Sound School at Signal: Synthesizers!

  • SIGNAL Flinders Walk Melbourne, VIC, 3000 Australia (map)

This workshop assumes everybody wants to play with synthesizers but never gets the chance to do it. Bridget Chappell (Hextape) and Jonnine Nokes (Horse Pills / Activities of Daily Living) guide you through their family zoo of synthesizers and invite you to try every single one, learn how to make them go, write a banger, and find the strangest noises possible. No prior knowledge of music or electronics is necessary - maybe it's even a bonus.

Sound School is a community project providing free workshops on electronic music upskilling and celebrating queer, women, people of colour, and people with disabilities. Sound School aims to make 100% of its events accessible; Signal is wheelchair accessible - please hit us up if you have any questions about accessibility. This workshop will be held on the unceded lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin nations. We pay our respects to elders past, present, and emerging, and acknowledge that genocide is ongoing and sovereignty was never ceded.

Signal is a creative studio for young people 13 to 25 years located on Northbank in the heart of Melbourne. This workshop is open to everyone in this age range - if you're outside this bracket stay tuned for the ton of all ages events we have coming up this year. ♥
