Circuit Bending at Signal

  • SIGNAL Flinders Walk, Northbank Melbourne, Victoria Australia 3001 (map)

Circuit-bending: the liberating art of physically re-routing electrical instruments' signals, taking their sounds to strange new places. Traditionally done on cheap keyboards, kids musical toys, noise machines, and any instrument not expensive or sentimental enough to worry about breaking, this practice lets you take complete control of your gear.

Guiding us through a world of circuits will be audio-visual artist Laura Davis (InfraGhosts), who will teach us how to open a keyboard up, make bends, and solder the coolest ones into place.

This workshop is for participants aged 13-25. All Sound School events are free but bookings essential - book at Signal here: http://www.melbourne.vic.gov.au/arts-and-culture/signal/whats-on-at-signal/Pages/Sound-School-Circuit-bending.aspx

Sound School is a community organisation delivering electronic music workshops that celebrate and upskill emerging artists on the margins, with a focus on people of colour, LGBTIQA+ folk, women, and people with disabilities.

Signal is a wheelchair accessible venue. Please contact us if you have any questions about accessibility. We acknowledge that this event will take place on the lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin nations and pay our respects to elders past, present, and emerging. We acknowledge that genocide is ongoing and that sovereignty was never ceded.
